Driver proof of delivery
A mobile app that keeps every delivery documented
Drivers should not have to text photos, email BOLs, or keep paper folders in the cab. Vigil turns every smartphone into a field documentation tool that feeds directly into dispatch.
From pickup to delivery, drivers capture BOL photos, pickup and delivery proof, status updates, incidents, and detours. The record becomes available to dispatch once submitted. Brokers and customers receive cleaner document handoffs when dispatch sends the records. Disputes get shorter.
What drivers can do in the app
- Pre-trip check. Start the shift with a timestamped, vehicle-attached inspection when required.
- Pickup arrival. Mark arrival and capture the BOL or pickup notes.
- BOL capture. Snap the BOL and attach it to the load.
- In-transit updates. Check in at milestones or report delays.
- Detour and incident reporting. Log what happened, with timestamps and supporting notes.
- Delivery proof. Capture delivery photos and notes to close the job.
- Post-trip wrap. Finalize the job with notes and required documents.
What back-office gets
- Every photo and note tied to a specific load
- A complete timeline with timestamps and job context
- Generated PDFs and document sends from the dispatch command center
- Searchable job history for accounting, claims, and customer follow-up
Why it matters for brokers and customers
Clean proof of delivery reduces billing disputes, insurance questions, and follow-up calls. When the paperwork is already attached to the load, everyone spends less time chasing documentation.
Use cases
- Medical and high-value cargo: Chain-of-custody records with timestamps and delivery notes.
- Expedited freight: Status updates and proof of delivery captured as drivers submit them.
- Regional carriers: Consistent documentation across multiple drivers.
- Carrier-branded documents: Generated PDFs and customer-facing visibility can reflect the carrier's brand where configured.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of delivery proof can drivers capture?
Drivers capture photos, notes, and status updates. Everything is attached to the load record and visible in the command center.
Does the app capture signatures?
Vigil does not currently support digital signature capture. Delivery proof is captured through photos and notes.
Can drivers capture barcodes?
Barcode capture is not a current feature. Drivers capture BOL photos, reference numbers, and notes through the app.
Are documents available to dispatch after submission?
Yes. Once a driver submits a capture, it appears in the dispatcher command center and can be attached to the job, generated as a PDF, or sent as part of a document packet.
Does the app replace paper BOLs?
It digitizes the capture and storage process. Many carriers still handle physical BOLs, but Vigil ensures the photo and details are attached to the correct job immediately.
Can the app be branded for our company?
The app itself does not currently support white-label branding. Vigil does support carrier-branded documents and customer-facing tracking or document visibility where configured.
